Alternative A2DP Driver Version History

Improvements:

• Improved support for multiple and high DPI monitors.
• Automatic reconnect/reconfigure attempt if first attempt fails.
• Added many explanations for common problems to the user interface.

Bug Fixes:

• Windows' built-in sound effects do not work on Windows 10.
• Volume and other remote controls (play, pause, etc.) may not work immediately after installation or upgrade.
• In rare cases, A2DP devices may become unconnectable if the Bluetooth radio is quickly turned off and on again. This problem persists until the next radio transition.

Improvements:

• Integrated offline FAQ to the program.
• Added explanation of device errors in case of A2DP connection failure.

Bug Fixes:

• AAC CODEC bitrate was limited to 250kbps (for 48kHz sampling, stereo) even if the headphones can support a higher bitrate.
• AAC CODEC could cause more CPU activity than necessary.
• A2DP connection may fail on devices that have limitation on streaming data packet size (i.e., devices with an unusually small MTU for the AVDTP media channel).

Improvement:

• Added aptX Low Latency CODEC support.

IMPORTANT:
Starting with this release, the oldest supported version of Windows is Windows 10 21H2 (Build 19044). If you are running an earlier version of Windows, please update your version of Windows.

Improvements:

• Windows 11 Unified Audio Endpoint now works with all input formats.
• Windows built-in sound effects (bass boost, headphone virtualization, and loudness equalization) can be enabled.
• Implemented workaround for Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 firmware bug (headphones do not automatically connect on power-up).

Bug Fix:

• System crash (BSOD) on old (before 1st gen Intel Core) processors.

• Sound could be distorted after pausing and resuming the audio stream.
• A2DP connection could be unstable if your device implements AVDTP delay reporting incorrectly. Workaround implemented for such devices.
• Improved robustness of driver install/uninstall operations.

• Added AAC CODEC support.

• If you use WASAPI exclusive mode and control the audio stream format (sampling frequency, channel count, bit resolution) from the media player application, you may not hear any sound after changing the format. (This is a bug introduced in version 1.3.1)

• Some headphones (including Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless and HUAWEI FreeBuds 5) may fail to establish an A2DP connection on their power on.
• You will hear noise if you select LDAC or aptX-HD CODEC and enable both 16-bit and 24-bit resolution options.

• Added Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, and Russian localization.
• Added 16-bit input format support for LDAC and aptX HD CODECs.
• Updated the user interface to make it easier to select Windows 11 "Unified Audio Endpoint" compatible parameters.

• Some headphones stop playing A2DP audio after using A2DP/HFP simultaneously. Workaround was implemented in the driver.

NOTE: This version is technically the same as preview version 1.0.5.35. If you are using that version, you can safely skip version 1.1.0.

• Compatibility with the media player programs that use the WASAPI interface.
• Reduce the need to restart the system after switching the driver.
• Volume control using the Windows UI may not work with some headphones.

NOTE: This version is technically the same as preview version 1.0.4.32. If you are using that version, you can safely skip version 1.0.5. If you are using preview version 1.0.4.26, we strongly recommend updating to version 1.0.5. There is a possibility of a system crash (BSOD) with version 1.0.4.26.

• Device connects to PC normally and is recognized as a stereo rendering device, but no sound comes out of device if the Absolute Volume feature is not enabled

Absolute Volume can be disabled by:

• Setting the DisableAbsoluteVolume registry value to non-zero
• Disabling it with Bluetooth Tweaker
• Your device is old, and the feature is not supported
• Device fails to connect after setting the SBC bitpool value above the device's maximum bitpool value.

• Better recovery from extended bad radio situations. (recovers quickly as radio quality improves)
• Less popping noise after the pause to play transition

• In very rare cases, driver could cause BSOD when it is unloaded
